News Analysis Program debuts on WBOI.

We premier On Point this week.  Hope you'll listen.  You can learn more about On Point by visiting the web site

And if you're wondering about Fresh Air, you can still catch Fresh Air Weekend on Sundays at 1 pm or download the podcasts of the daily program here.

Programming decisions are never easy, and we know Fresh Air has loyal fans.  When we looked at the cost for the program (Fresh Air is one of our most expensive programs) and the listenership (and it registers one of our lowest day time ratings), making a change at this time when we are trying to contain and reduce our programming costs seemed necessary.

Host Tom Ashbrook has this to say:

In ballet, “on point” means up on your toes.

In war, it’s the lead soldier on patrol

In conversation it’s the heart of the matter.

That’s where we strive to be every day with our listeners — up on our toes, out front, at the heart of what’s going on.

Here at On Point, we’re looking to create a different kind of conversation about the country and the world we live in — about who we are, and where we’re going. Maybe it’s the kind of national conversation you’ve always wanted. Fast, fun, serious, surprising. Open to everyone. And above all, unflinchingly honest. With voices from all over the planet. Fresh voices. Passionate voices.

On Point was born in the immediate aftermath of the attacks of 9/11, when the country was looking for answers and impatient with old certitudes. We still carry that urgency today: to test, challenge, and probe. And while we do it, to celebrate the people, arts and ideas that make life a joy.

We hope you’ll add your voice to the On Point conversation — on the air, and here online. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for listening!

Free for lunch?

Big News . . .and thank you.
On February 2, on what would have been Madge Rothschild's 91st birthday, the foundation she established to support local nonprofit organizations announced a significant operating grant to Northeast Indiana Public Radio. Read the Press Release here.

The Board, staff and volunteers, as well as our listeners, all say a heartfelt "Thank You" to the Madge Rothschild Foundation for the confidence and commitment shown by this grant.

The gift recognizes and honors Madge Rothschild as a constant listener to public radio and will be used, along with the much needed and appreciated contributions from members, to sustain the work of the station.
