Since joining NIPR in March 2011, Sean has worked to raise the news profile of WBOI by increasing its presence at public meetings, speeches, and events, improving relationships with key sources and community partners, and bringing WBOI to the national stage by placing local stories on NPR newscasts and APM's Marketplace Morning Report. Sean is the local host of Morning Edition, as well as co-host of Midday Matters.

Sweetwater breaks ground on new facility

Officials break ground on Sweetwater's new facility Wednesday afternoon.

Sweetwater Sound broke ground Wednesday on its expansion at the company’s headquarters along US 30.

Sweetwater President Chuck Surack joined Governor Mitch Daniels, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, and Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters at the event.

Surack says Sweetwater will add more than 300 employees over the next four years, with an eye toward hiring even more if business keeps booming.

Surack says a business model focusing on customer service has kept Sweetwater expanding, but his location in Northeastern Indiana has been key, as well.

On Friday, October 26, the candidates for Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction debated at the studios of Northeast Indiana Public Radio.

Republican incumbent, Dr. Tony Bennett, and his opponent, Democrat Glenda Ritz, spent an hour answering questions from StateImpact Indiana reporter, Kyle Stokes.
